This is a public summary of where Koaching the Gap is heading.
What we are here for
Koaching the Gap works at the cultural interface: the place where institutional ways of working meet other ways of knowing, doing and being. We coach, mentor, supervise and facilitate so that people and the systems around them move forward together.
Our work starts from strengths. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and anyone whose working life is shaped by structural disadvantage, do not need fixing. The systems around them often do.
Where we are heading
Over the next three to five years we intend to grow from one practitioner into a small, sustainable, Indigenous-owned practice that:
- delivers repeatable programs in coaching, cultural supervision and reflective practice, with trusted First Nations practitioners
- becomes a go-to partner for a small number of buyer groups: government, universities, health and community services, and organisations with social-impact obligations
- works with other First Nations businesses as partners, with their intellectual property staying theirs
How we work
- Every piece of work starts with a conversation, then a written proposal or quote with the work, the fees and the dates. We begin once you accept in writing or with a purchase order.
- We take on work only where we are the right fit for the person and the organisation.
- What is said in individual sessions stays with the person. Before we start, the person, the organisation and we agree in writing what the organisation hears back.
- We work with people across workforces, sectors and stages of life. First Nations and non-Indigenous people are supported to achieve what moving forward looks like for them.
- We do not license, reuse or commercialise cultural knowledge. It stays with the people and communities who hold it.
- Partners keep their own intellectual property. Anything created together is agreed in writing before it is built.
