Status: the duties are required by law; the statement is voluntary. The Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) places duties on self-employed people and employers to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that their work does not expose people to risks to health or safety. No law requires us to publish this statement.
How we work safely
- Mostly online. Most of our work is delivered online, which removes most physical risk. For in-person work, we use the host organisation's venue and follow its safety and emergency arrangements.
- Psychological safety in the work. Coaching and supervision can bring up difficult material. We set the ground at the start and work within what coaching can hold. When the work is carrying more than it can hold, we talk with the person first. We escalate only where there is immediate danger to a life or the law requires it (Terms and Conditions, clause 5). Crisis contacts are on our Terms and Privacy and Resources pages.
- Cultural safety. Sorry Business and cultural obligations are respected and reset any timeframe.
- Group settings. Participants agree to respectful conduct and confidentiality. A person whose conduct makes a program unsafe for others can be removed.
- Incidents. We record any incident or near miss and report to WorkSafe Victoria where the law requires.
Our obligations as an organisation
Koaching the Gap meets the duties that apply to it under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), including the duty to manage risks to psychological health, and the duties in the Occupational Health and Safety (Psychological Health) Regulations 2025 (Vic) as they apply to a business of our shape. We identify and manage psychosocial hazards in the work we design and deliver, and we keep a written process for doing so as the practice grows. Associates and subcontractors work under our terms and this statement.
