How does Koaching the Gap work?

Most work starts with a conversation about what you need. We then send a written proposal with the work, the fees and the dates. You confirm in writing or with a purchase order, and we begin. Most work is delivered online, with in-person sessions, workshops and speaking by arrangement.

Who do you work with?

Mostly organisations and government: their leaders, teams and First Nations staff. Also universities, community organisations and some individuals. Sometimes we deliver as a subcontractor to another organisation.

What is the difference between coaching, mentoring and cultural supervision?

Coaching is a structured conversation about where you are, where you want to be and what is in the way. The coach asks, listens and reflects back. The answers are yours.

Mentoring draws on the mentor's own experience. A mentor shares what they have learned, opens doors and offers a view. It is more directive than coaching.

Cultural supervision is reflective practice for people whose work carries cultural and colonial load: First Nations staff working inside mainstream organisations, and non-Indigenous staff working alongside First Nations people and communities. It gives a regular, confidential space to reflect on the work, the systems around it and the person doing it. It is not clinical supervision and it is not therapy.

Many engagements braid the three. The proposal says which you are getting. Other words we use are explained in Definitions and glossary.

Is coaching or supervision therapy?

No. We are not medical or mental health practitioners and we do not diagnose or treat. Where someone needs that support, we say so and help them find it. Our Non-Medical Disclaimer sets this out.

My organisation is paying. What does it hear back?

Not the content of your sessions. Before we start, you, the organisation and we agree in writing what the organisation hears back, usually attendance and themes at a general level. That agreement governs. The Privacy Policy, clause 7, explains more.
